Kate Joseph is a very effective and skillful operations professional with demonstrated successes in business process creation and improvement. Kate has had over 20 years’ experience in the financial industry, particularly hedge funds and alternative asset management and has performed as head of operations, COO and board member. She is highly knowledgeable regarding the rules and regulations pertaining to both on-shore and off-shore service providers. During her career she has successfully interfaced with banks, brokers, auditors and technology vendors to achieve optimal results both in terms of results and costs. She has a proven capacity to streamline all phases of financial back-office operations from initial trade execution through accounting to investor reporting.
Kate spent 18 years with a large hedge fund and performed many operational roles as it grew from $200 million to over $10 billion under management. She previously worked for Bloomberg compiling fixed income data and subsequently for the world’s largest fund administrator as a project manager and training manager. More recently she opened the new operations hub for a small off-shore financial services group and, with minimal technical support, she automated trade loading, created an effective valuations system and integrated the accounting and investor services teams. She raised the level of risk control and procedural excellence so that the company achieved its first SAS70 (now SSAE16) certification.
She spent a year at a D.C. based venture capital firm researching and creating procedures for an off-shore bank project, a single family home real estate purchase and management company and designing the enterprise data flow and storage system for a student loan administrator. Subsequently she has completed several consulting projects for P.E. firms and banking and technology start-ups.
Kate is a highly analytical problem solver with a talent for liaising with cross-functional teams to optimize systems, tools, and techniques. She has the exceptional ability to bridge the gap between technical and operational teams; able to clearly translate business area requirements into technical language for IT teams. She has used her superior communication and interpersonal strengths to build dynamic, high-performance and motivated teams while at the same time, report to, liaise with and inspire with her vision other Senior Management and Board members.
She has a joint honors degree in mathematics and chemistry from the University of London (U.K.), King’s College and an MBA from Rollins College, Florida where she was presented with the Faculty Award for Scholarship. Kate is currently pursuing an EDBA at Rollins College which she hopes to complete in 201.
